Before Starting a Towing Company

Posted under Insurance Quote Auto by admin on Saturday 11 February 2012 at 11:50 pm

Starting a towing company can be a challenging process. As excited as you may be to get the wheels rolling and the cash coming in, there are a few things you may want to consider before opening your doors.

1) What kind of company are you looking to build? Diversity in sources of business is important when running a towing company. The old adage “Don’t keep all of your eggs in one basket” holds true for the towing industry as well. Understanding the potential sources of business and how profitable they each are can be helpful in determining how successful you will be from the start. Police, motor club, auction, cash customers, account customers and private property accounts all have unique business demands and asset requirements. Be sure to consider just how each source will play a part in your business both now and in the future.

2) Buying trucks and paying for rent, employees and liability insurance will consume the lion’s share of your revenues. And it sure is expensive to be paying for these items when few calls are coming in. One great keystone of any towing company is providing service to the local police and fire departments. Check with their contacts to see how to get on the lists. If it isn’t possible to get onto the list for a few months it may make sense to wait. Municipal lists are a steady and profitable customer but don’t count on that revenue until you know you can get on the provider list. Every police department has a vehicle officer or contact in charge of the towing process. Get their name and make them your friend.

3) Build a brand, not just a company. With an overabundance of towing companies to choose from consumers often select companies at random to call for a quote. Make your business stand out by having a good name and strong marketing plan. Having these in place before you start spending on advertising will make that money work harder for you. And be careful when committing to long-term contracts like annual yellow page business directories and online advertising commitments. Ask what you can expect in return for your money and remember, much of this can be done yourself for little or no expense.

4) Start building your contacts now. Your company doesn’t have to be up and running to print business cards and go around introducing yourself to potential customers. Tell them you are launching in 3 months but wanted to understand what they look for in a good company. It will show your dedication to providing a good product as well as provide you with some insight on how to better compete with your future fellow industry professionals.

I ran a successful tow company for several years and know much of what you will need to do is not difficult work, its just hard work. Being committed to being the best and being professional will give you a huge boost over your competition.

How Does a Whole Life Insurance Policy Work?

Posted under Insurance Quote Auto by admin on Wednesday 8 February 2012 at 10:41 am

How exactly does a whole life insurance policy work? Whole life policies are popular with some select groups of people but they are a little bit more complex than their plain vanilla easy to understand term life insurance counterparts.

The business of insurance has to be one of the most underrated services offered in the United States nowadays. Not many people think having life insurance is important and because of this we see that the industry is not as successful as the auto and homeowners insurance business. It is important to know however, that death comes at any age; and if a person wants to protect their family or other people after their death it is imperative for them to purchase a life insurance policy.

There are two basic types of life insurance in the United States that work in completely different ways and because of this have different premiums. One of these types of insurances is one that is called a temporary policy. This policy covers a policyholder for about 5 to 30 years and their premiums are most of the time stagnant. On the other hand we have the permanent policy in which members are covered for life as long as they pay all their premiums. Part of your premium will go toward a little saving portion of the policy that will accumulate over time and the other portion of the premium goes towards the insurance cost of the death benefit.

Whole life insurance is one of the three types of insurance polices that you can obtain if you want a permanent life insurance policy. This means that whole life will cover you for life and that your cash value (saving portion) will get higher as time goes by. However, whole life is different in that your cash value is tax deferred until the beneficiary withdraws it and you can also borrow against it.

A person should consider whole life insurance when the need for coverage is lifelong. Whole life may be used as part of your estate planning because it accrues money after a person pays the premiums, as mentioned before. Because premiums for this type of policy are much higher than those of temporary policies, a person must know that this is what they want after all. Whole life is a good choice if you want to make sure that your family or dependents have a good life after your death, and that the transition from the death of a person close to their lives is a close one.

Within the whole life realm, there are six different kinds that a person can choose from.

1. Non-Participating Whole Life Insurance: This type of whole life policy has a leveled premium and a face amount through the entire policyholder’s life. Since the policy has fixed costs the premiums will not be necessary high, but it will no pay you any dividends after the policyholder dies.

2. Participating Whole Life Insurance: This type is much different from the first type mentioned. One of its differences is that this one does pay dividends and because of this premiums can be said to be a little bit more expensive. These dividends can be used to reduce your premium payments because they can be paid in cash, they can be left to accumulate at a specified rate of interest or they can be used to purchase additional insurance which in turn will increase the value in cash that a beneficiary will receive after a policyholder’s death.

3. Level Premium Whole Life Insurance: This kind of insurance is one that has the same premiums with no significant drop or rise in the money paid monthly through the entire life of the policy. At first the premiums will be enough to cover the services given and a little portion of it can be put away to cover the premiums that will come in later years when the cost of insurance in the market rises. The insurer can also pay extra premiums that will go toward the cash value part of the policy one the policyholder dies.

4. Limited Payment Whole Life Insurance: This is the type of policy that will allow you to only pay premiums over a specified period of time. This means that if you only want to pay premiums for about twenty to thirty years or up until age 65 or 85; this is the type of policy that you want. Because premium payments are going to be paid over a specified period of time, your premium payments will be significantly higher, but after you get done with them you will be covered for life.

5. Single Premium Whole Life Insurance: This type of policy is one that is very common for people that select the whole life insurance type. This is a limited policy with a single relatively large premium due at issue. Due to the fact that the owner of the policy will pay the single premium payments when the policy is first signed, the life insurance policy will immediately have cash and loan value! This type of whole term life insurance is mostly an investment oriented type than some of the others.

6. Indeterminate Premium Whole Life Insurance: This is the easiest type of whole life policy to understand and also one of the most common ones in the life market. With this insurance the company will give you a premium based on how the company is doing economically and on expense costs. This means that while one year the premiums can be slightly lower than expected, in the next the company can charge more if they are not doing up to expectations. It is also good to note that there is a maximum guaranteed premium when you first sign your policy and that the life insurance company can never charge above the premium stated

While the cost of whole life coverage is substantially higher than a term life policy with the same death benefit it is important to keep in mind that the reason for the difference in price is that the death benefit for the whole life policy will almost certainly be paid out – after all everyone dies sometime! With the term policy of course the insurance company is counting on not paying the death benefit out on over 90% of the policies it issues.

The issue of life insurance should not be taken lightly if one has a family or dependents. While some people in the United States are fed up paying all the different kinds of insurances and they figure that they don’t need to pay extra for life insurance when they are young, it is important to understand that life insurance can be a life saver after a family member, husband or parent dies.

Whole life insurance covers you for life and it will allow a beneficiary to continue life only having to cope with the issue of death and not having to worry about the economic hits that come with it. Life insurance policies are a must for anyone that has someone that relies on them for support and it’s time for all responsible Americans to realize that.

Tax Consequences of Selling Inherited Property

Posted under Insurance Quote Auto by admin on Sunday 29 January 2012 at 4:10 am

When you inherit property through either a will or other method such as a gift, you will be responsible for the taxes. There are many different tax consequences that result form selling property that you have inherited.

It is important to be aware of these concequences before you complete the sale. This will help you make sure that you can provide yourself with a quality sale, you get as much out of the sale as possible, and that you provide yourself with the right tax bracket.

The basic rule is that the recipient’s basis for inherited property is stepped up from the benefactor’s cost to the asset’s fair market value at the time of death. For instance, if a person inherits property worth $10,000 and it appreciates to a value of $20,000 at the time of sale, the owner will be taxed on the gain of any appreciation of the property. The appreciation in value between $10,000 and $20,000 will not be recognized for income tax purposes. Gifts are calculated for purposes of gain or loss.

When an asset that was transferred as a gift depreciates to a value below the donor’s original cost, the recipient’s basis is the fair market value of the asset at the time the gift was received. If the recipient’s selling price is higher than the asset’s value on the date of the gift but lower than the donor’s cost basis, the recipient will have neither a gain nor a loss.

Once properties have been transferred, you are responsible for that property, along with any of the fees that the property might have had. Therefore, you won’t be able to change the way the taxes work with the particular property that you have been given through inheritance.

The taxes that you pay on inherited property are going to depend on several factors. First, the taxes are going to depend location of the property.(city, state, and county.) After you have inherited the property, you’ll want to contact the city, state, and county to make sure that the property is in the right tax bracket.

The second factor that taxes on inherited properties are going to rely on is the particular type of business you have on the property and on what the property has been zoned for. For instance, when you are looking at a business that has been zoned as a sales business, or as a particular type of establishment, you are going to want to then think about the type of taxes that will be applied.

One you’ve owned the inherited property, it is then yours, and the taxes are going to be exactly the same as they would have been had you owned the property all along.

Develop an Understanding for Insurance Quotes

Posted under Insurance Quote Auto by mild on Friday 15 April 2011 at 5:06 am

Understanding insurance quotes does not need to be a frustrating process. While each insurance company uses its own vocabulary, the basics are the same. Use the tips below to understand what your money is going toward and how to obtain the best deal at the lowest price.
1. Specify the same policy terms across all the insurance companies being compared. You will not be able to determine which policy truly costs the least if they all have different deductibles and coverage limits. In addition, you may want to factor in whether discounts are permanent or for a limited time only.
2. Learn the jargon. The three most common insurance terms are premiums, deductibles, and coverage limits.
Premium
The premium is the amount paid to the insurance company monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually in exchange for coverage. This payment process occurs across the board, whether you are applying for auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance, or homeowners/renters insurance. While some insurers grant a short grace period for missed payments, others cancel insurance policies immediately.
Deductible
When you file an insurance claim, the deductible is the amount you must pay toward the car repairs, medical bills, housing vandalism, etc. before the insurance company pays anything. For instance, if you experience $2000 in vehicle damages and have a $500 deductible, you must pay $500 and then the insurer will pay the remaining $1500. Typically, increasing the deductible reduces the cost of premiums. At the same time, you should never raise the deductible so high so that it becomes unaffordable in the face of an emergency.
Coverage Limits
Each insurance policy details the maximum amount the insurer will pay for certain situations in the event of a claim. For example, your auto insurance policy may cover up to $25,000 in personal injuries, minus your deductible. If you sustain $30,000 in injuries, you will be responsible for paying your deductible plus the $5,000 that went over the coverage limit.
Coverage limits are common in health insurance, in which the insurance company may only pay up to a set amount for certain procedures. The patient must pay any costs over that amount.
In a life insurance scenario, the coverage limit can be equated to the death benefit, which is the amount paid to beneficiaries when the insured individual dies. It is time that you Compare Life Insurance Quotes. Also make sure to visit Asteron Life Insurance Company.
The amount of coverage you need is based on any state minimum requirements (for auto insurance), the likelihood of submitting a claim, and the anticipated expense of all claims. For instance, someone insuring an old truck may need minimal vehicle insurance, someone without a spouse or children may need a low level of life insurance, and someone with few valuable possessions may need little renters insurance.
3. Finally, concentrate on the factors that are most important to you. Is poor customer service or a drawn-out claims process worth saving a few dollars? Do you need the option to change your coverage later, such as to add family members? You may not even need to review every line of the insurance quote if your primary needs are met.
